Asubio Pharma is an R&D-driven pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Nearly 80% of its 200 employees are directly involved with research and development activities.
The word “Asubio” is derived from Asklepios, the god of medicine and healing in Greek mythology, and asu-no-bio, which means “life for the future” in Japanese. Ever since Asubio Pharma was established in 1979 as a business division of Suntory Limited in Japan, its research focus has been the creation of first-in-class, innovative ethical drugs through chemical synthesis and other new technologies, notably in the fields of biotechnology and peptide chemistry.
Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. is a pharmaceutical company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The Daiichi Sankyo Group consists of subsidiaries and affiliates throughout the world, with total revenues of Yen 842.1 billion ($8.38 billion) in the 2008 fiscal year ended March 2009. The Group's principal business is the manufacture and sale of pharmaceuticals.
